so i went to see the eragon movie last night with *finni, ~fishcleaver, ~ears, and her sister. i brought the book into the theater with me so i could smash my head with it every time hollywood killed something to do with the characters and plot. needless to say, i had one hell of a headache by the end of the show. the graphics and costumes were beautiful, but they just BUTCHARED the story. x___x;; and i know it's a complete ripoff of starwars, okay? i liked it a lot anyway. ;__;

my god, i have so many complaints that i don't even know where to start...

eragon: they got his character down just fine, so not many complaints here except for his appearance and age. eragon was supposed to be a dark haired fifteen-year-old, not a blond seventeen-year-old.

saphira: i have nothing but praise for the graphics~ she was beautiful. *___*;; the thing that made me bang my head on my book was the part where she 'grew up'. wasn't eragon taking care of her for like, all of winter? feeding her secretly in the forest, watching her grow, learning to communicate and deepening his bond with her? HOW ABOUT NO! let's just make her go BOOM BOOM BOOM - ADULT! screw growing and bonding, let's get this show on the road! x___X;;;
You could have done a sequence of shots! Like a 5 minutes segment with music in the background, showing her grow with him! buuuuut noooo!

the gedwëy ignasia: i think it looks a lot cooler in the movie than it does in the book, but i couldn't help but thinking "AHAHA HARRY POTTER!" every time eragon's started to burn-*shot*

king galbatorix: wtf, get him out of the movie. we haven't even seen what he looks like yet. D:<

durza: OMG SPARKLY SHIRT! SO FREAKISHLY SPARKLY AHAHAHAHA!! THE AMOUNT OF GLITTER ON HIS CLOTHING WAS SO RETARDED LMFAO! xDDD

brom: needs to grow a beard. D:< but then i guess he would have looked too much like obi wan. >_>;; i liked him, but his death was all wrong and he had a couple really corny lines. he was supposed to be killed by the ra'zac, not by durza. and he and arya weren't supposed to see each other.

ra'zac: UM, NO. completely wrong. cool looking, but completely wrong. what happened to them being bird-like and wearing cloaks? and flying bird-like steeds to travel?

zar'roc: i always thought the blade was supposed to be silver tinted red, not painted red with was looks like globs of acrylic.

urgals: okay, where are their horns? aren't they supposed to have tusks too? they look like husky bikers. x___x;;;

angela: since when does angel speak in third person and wear nothing but sparkly, dangly metal? she's supposed to show up a lot more too, since she goes to live with the varden. they left a lot of information out of her prediction too.

solembum: what solembum? where was he? i wanted to see the werekitty. D:< He I wanted to see the most!

joed: nope, not in the movie either. i guess eragon learning how to read wasn't that important. [/sarcasm]

roran: "i'm leaving. don't know where i'm going, but i'm leaving!" dude, he had plans when he left carvahall.

orik: saw him, but they never bothered to name him or introduce him. and wasn't eragon supposed to meet the drawf king with him? and train with him and see farthen dûr with him? he better have a part in eldest. i really like orik. he's so kind. ;__; another feared rip off of LOTR? Pleeeease.

arya: OH, DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED. WE ARE NOT TOLD THAT SHE'S A PRINCESS UNTIL THE SECOND BOOK! where the hell are her elf ears? AND WHY DOES SHE HAVE RED HAIR?! IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE BLACK. OVER AND OVER HER HAIR IS STATED AS BLACK IN THE BOOK! Hollywood just RUINED HER. T____T;;; and why? because they figured the general public would be too stupid to tell the difference between her and arwen from lotr. D:< Plus, the magic....okay, so she uses magic ONCE in the movie and never again? Bother explaining what was going on with the egg, and maybe she had magic because she's an ELF?!! Also, in the book she was always stern, and distant, not all flirty with eragon...she was an ancient elf compared to a child. Personality in the movie: DAMSEL IN DISTRESS. HELL NO.

murtagh: probably the only reason i went to see the movie. omg. they made him so incredibly hot. I just didn't like how smiley and random they made him. he never stalked eragon... well, not for that long anyway. also, when he agreed to take eragon to the varden, he did so very, very reluctantly and kept reminding him that he was leaving after finding them. and he was supposed to strip to show his scar to ajihad, not flash it at him... *wistful*

shruikan: "so... the king's dragon was just sitting behind that map the whole time?" best part of the whole movie.

other comments:
-the varden don't have to fight the king's army until the end of eldest. the attack on farthen dûr was supposed to be urgals only.
-um, wasn't eragon supposed to train with the varden for at least a couple of weeks before the battle?
-okay, eragon was supposed to be seriously injured on his back by durza. this is CRUCIAL to the second movie. x__x;;
-what happened to the "bless the child, argetlam" scene? eragon was supposed to bless a baby, and she becomes another important character in the eldest. seriously, if they take elva out of the second movie, i'm going to be so sad. she's such an interesting, freaky little character! ;__;
-eragon wasn't supposed to just pledge himself to the varden right away. he remained neutral for a long time, and brom encouraged him to.
-um, du vrangr gata? the evil twins? mind raping? all taken out.
-masacre at yazuac? stopping at helgrind? teirm? they were like, combined, wtf.
-no mention of riders having extended lives whatsoever. that just throws everything off. seriously, how else do they explain why galbatorix has ruled for so long? and why brom is still around?
- The rider lives without the dragon, but kill a rider and kill the dragon? Complete BULLSHIT
-yes, i'm very picky.
